Firefighters and villagers searching for the victim who fell into the river near a school in Bintangor.

KUCHING, Aug 3: A 26-year-old man is feared to have drowned after falling into the river in Bintangor.

According to a report from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre today, they received a call regarding the incident at 11.45am and deployed Bomba Bintangor to the location.

The operations commander reported that the victim, who went fishing with two friends, fell into the river from a boat when trying to release a fishing line that was stuck onto something inside the river.

The search and rescue (SAR) operation is currently being conducted at the nearby location where the victim was reported to have fallen.

At the time of writing, the victim is yet to be found. — DayakDaily
