MIRI (Sept 11): A 29-year-old man has been remanded in connection with the murder of a man at an oil palm estate in Sebubok, Niah in July.

Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel arrested the man in Batu Niah yesterday to facilitate the investigation.

“During the arrest, police also seized a homemade gun, believed to have been used in this case.

“The suspect is currently under police remand for seven days until Sept 18 to facilitate the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder,” Alexson said in a statement.

He said the motive of the case is still under probe.

Alexson advised the public not to speculate on the case or circulate unverified information on social media.

“With regard to this case, the police are calling on anyone who has any information to go to the nearest police station or contact 085-433730,” he said.

On July 29, a 40-year-old man was found dead at an oil palm estate with multiple gunshot wounds to his forehead, eye, neck, and stomach.
