KUCHING (Sept 27): Some 3,000 people, including contingents from all competing states, are expected to attend the Para Malaysia Games (Para Sukma) XXI closing ceremony at Stadium Perpaduan tomorrow, said Datu Hii Chang Kee.

The Deputy State Secretary (Operations) said the public will be invited through non-governmental organisations and the Kuching Resident’s Office, with invitations also extended to community leaders and village chiefs.

“We will be issuing around 1,200 invitations due to space constraints,” Hii said in a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) report.

Hii said this after attending the full rehearsal for the closing ceremony yesterday.

Those unable to attend the event can watch it live via TV Sarawak (TVS), Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), and Ukas.

Hii added the highlight of the event will be the announcement of the overall champion for the games, along with awards for the best male and female para athletes.

On the rehearsal, Hii, who is also games chief executive officer, said while things went smoothly, there were several aspects requiring further attention.

Among those present at the rehearsal were Minister of Women, Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, who is also the minister-in-charge of the games; as well as her deputies Datuk Mohammad Razi Sitam, who is also the chef de mission for the Sarawak contingent, and Datuk Rosey Yunus.

Federal Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh is expected to officially close the games.
