SIBU (Sept 8):  A total of 338 staff members from different companies under the KTS Group of Companies participated in a joggerthon organised by Kelab KTS Sibu at Permai Lake Garden here today.

The event, the third last of the nine events for the KTS Sport Carnival 2024, was officiated by club president Kevin Lau.

“We organise joggerthon every year, and also we try to encourage as many (staff) as possible to come because it is more of a basic form of exercise.

“You don’t necessarily need to have a set of skills or equipment. So, naturally we want the staff, of course, not only they work hard, but also try to take the time to come here – to do either a brisk walk or running.

“Basically, it’s a time for them to relax and also to raise awareness in terms of both mental and physical health, which is important,” Lau said after flagging off the joggerthon.

He believed that a brisk walk in the morning could help lighten up people’s moods.

“We really encourage as many staff to come as possible, and also there’s no differentiation in terms of age.

“This is because usually when we talk about basketball or football, is more to encourage the young members of the company, because there is more physical contact.

“But for joggerthon, it is more for everyone,” he said, adding that it helped to strengthen the bonding among staff.

Looking ahead, Lau said the next event would be a telematch, which would further strengthen team building and team spirit within the group.

Lau said the carnival will culminate with a dinner featuring a karaoke singing competition, where the winning team will be announced.

Among those present were Kelab KTS Sibu chairman Benny Lau, and vice chairman Michael Ting.
