MIRI, 6 Oct: The new clean water supply project is now being built to benefit 47 households in Kampung Pa Lungan, thereby improving the basic facilities and well-being of local communities.
Deputy Minister in Sarawak's Premier Department (Rural, Immigration and Project Monitoring), Datuk Gerawat Gala said the clean water facility had a direct impact on the health, hygiene and well-being of families in the village.
"This clean water facility is a very significant achievement as it directly affects the health, hygiene and well-being of families in this village", he said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, the 12 kilometre long Taraf Naik Jalan Pa Lungan Project has now achieved 4.7 percent physical progress and is still on schedule.
According to Gerawat, the roads are important for rural communities as they connect residents with educational facilities, healthcare, economic activities and other areas in Bario.
"I hope the executives can maintain the momentum of work and ensure that this project continues to run smoothly until it is fully completed in accordance with the deadlines, specifications and quality set", he said.
According to him, the two projects of Pa Lungan Village Clean Water Supply Project and Naik Taraf Jalan Pa Lungan Project are being implemented under the Highland Development Agency (HDA).
In related developments, Pa Lungan now also receives electricity supply through the Sarawak Alternative Urban Electricity Supply Scheme (SARES) project which supports daily activities, education and local economic development.
Telecommunications and digital access facilities in the area are also being strengthened to support education, government affairs, business as well as opening up new economic opportunities for rural communities.
"With the availability of roads, clean water, electricity and telecommunications, we are seeing a significant change in Pa Lungan development", he said. - TVS
