MIRI: A total of 51 individuals were arrested in a large-scale immigration operation conducted across five locations in the city.
The two-day sweep, led by the Miri Immigration Enforcement Unit from the Sarawak Immigration Department, began on Friday morning (Sept 6) and concluded on Saturday (Sept 7), with 127 individuals inspected.
Those detained included individuals without valid travel documents, overstayers, and those lacking the necessary permits to remain in Malaysia.
Additionally, a Malaysian employer was apprehended for employing undocumented workers.
All detainees are facing charges under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Immigration Regulations 1963.
The authorities have urged the public to report any suspected immigration offenses to the nearest Immigration Department office or through their online channels.
