KUCHING (Feb 2): Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is set to deliver a keynote address at the Indonesia Economic Summit (IES) 2026 in Jakarta, Indonesia on Feb 3 and 4.
According to the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) report, the two-day summit brings together world leaders, policymakers, economists, and industry players to discuss strategies for sustainable and inclusive economic growth amid evolving global challenges.
Abang Johari arrived in Jakarta today to attend the summit, accompanied by State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki and Deputy State Secretary (Economic Planning and Development) Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, and other state government officials.
During the summit, the Premier is expected to highlight Sarawak’s development journey and ongoing economic transformation, with a particular emphasis on sustainable development, which has drawn increasing attention at both Asean and international levels.
Carrying the theme ‘United to Drive Sustainable Growth and Shared Prosperity’, IES 2026 serves as a platform to deliberate on key global economic issues, including inclusive growth, labour mobility, trade and investment policies, business competitiveness, digital transformation, and Asean’s role in the global economy.
Organised by the Indonesia Business Council, the summit features high-level discussions through policy dialogues, roundtable sessions and bilateral meetings involving government and private sector stakeholders.
A new segment, ‘IES in Action’, has also been introduced this year to showcase ongoing research and projects by the council, along with key initiatives that directly impact regional and global economic development.
