Affin Bank has planned to open eight new branches in Sarawak by the end of this year, said its president and group chief executive officer Datuk Wan Razly Abdullah. 

KUCHING (Aug 25): Affin Bank Berhad has planned to open eight new branches in Sarawak by the end of this year, said its president and group chief executive officer Datuk Wan Razly Abdullah.

Wan Razly said that six out of the eight new branches will be set up here in Kuching, with one each in Bintulu and Miri, bringing the total number of branches in Sarawak to 14 by this year’s end, he said.

“By year-end, we will add eight new branches to our existing six in Sarawak whereby Bintulu will be the first to be set up in either Sept or Oct, with the remaining branches to open by year-end,” he said.

Wan Razly who was met during a media meet-up session at Hilton Hotel here today, said Affin Bank currently has three existing branches in Kuching, and one in Miri, Sibu, and Bintulu each.

“We have received approval and will begin renovations soon, which are expected to take three to four months, and our new branches will operate a dual banking system, offering both conventional and Islamic banking services.

The North Bank branch here which currently operates on a dual banking system (conventional and Islamic) will be upgraded to include triple banking systems comprising conventional and Islamic banking services, and stock market investments, he disclosed.

“We are awaiting Bank Negara’s approval for the inclusion of the stock market investment services, and once approved, this branch will offer financial services, ranging from mortgages and car loans to stock market investments,” he said.
