KUCHING, Aug 25: Affin Bank Berhad will set up eight new branches to amplify its presence in Sarawak.
Its president and group chief executive officer Datuk Wan Razly Abdullah said the bank currently has six existing branches in the State – three in Kuching and one each in Sibu, Bintulu and Miri.
“We will add six more branches in Kuching and one each in Bintulu and Miri.
“The new branch in Bintulu is expected to commence operations by October, and the remainder of the new branches will come in by the end of this year,” he told reporters during a casual media meet-up held at Hilton Hotel here today.
He also mentioned that the new branches will operate with a dual banking branch concept, integrating Affin Bank and Affin Islamic.
The existing Affin Bank branch located at Northbank Kuching, will be the only branch incorporating the triple banking branch concept, integrating Affin Bank, Affin Islamic and Affin Hwang Investment Bank under one roof.
“At the moment, the Northbank branch operates as a dual banking (Affin Bank and Affin Islamic).
“We are waiting for Bank Negara’s approval for the integration of Affin Hwang Investment Bank.
“Once we have the approval, it can operate as a triple banking branch in Kuching where customers can go and ask for mortgages, car loans or even stockbroking,” he added. — DayakDaily
