Aidil Sharin wants Kuching City to take advantage of the action at the stadium

KUCHING, 6 Oct: Kuching City FC team wants to take advantage of their home-field advantage when they open the curtains for the 2026/27 Shopee Cup campaign against Tampines Rovers FC at Taha Ariffin Stadium, Kuching, tomorrow.

Kuching City FC's head coach Aidil Sharin Sahak said the on-site action gave his team an opportunity to improve after two previous competitors saw them not get the expected results when playing in the opposing spot.

"If you look at the two competitions we're in, namely ACL2 and league, domestic competition, we don't do well. But they're both in the opposite direction.

"So, this is in our own place for us, of course we will change that. And we want to keep the mind and mentality alive to enjoy football for the fans. That's the most important thing", he told a press conference ahead of the first game of the Shopee Cup, at Taha Ariffin Stadium, today.

According to Aidil, the advantage of playing at Taha Ariffin Stadium is also present through support from fans, in addition to the player's better familiarity with the conditions on the pitch and the stadium environment.

However, he reminded his men not to take lightly the challenges of Tampines Rovers which he described as a quality team and experienced on the international stage.

Aidil also stressed that the mentality of players should be at their best with each player being required to be more aggressive and dominant when facing opponents.

"We cannot underestimate the opponent. But we have to play our game plan. We need to be strong.

"Every time we face the enemy, no matter where they come from. Most importantly, we have full support", he added.

Meanwhile, Aidil hopes the united support of supporters can be a source of inspiration for his team, especially in the first action of the Shopee Cup on his own site.

"We want the fans to come and support the team no matter what the decision, rain or shine. So, of course the team will appreciate the support of the fans", he added.

Kuching City FC is scheduled to open the curtain for the 2026/27 Shopee Cup campaign against Tampines Rovers FC on October 7 at Taha Ariffin Stadium, Kuching, at 9.00 pm. -TVS
