KUCHING, 6 Oct: The status of some Kuching City FC players who were called up to the national squad for the FIFA Asean Cup campaign involving the main goalkeepers Haziq Nadzli and Nazmi Faiz has not yet been finalized for Shopee Cup action after they are reportedly not training with the team.

Kuching City FC's head coach Aidil Sharin Sahak said the new player had arrived in Kuala Lumpur and is expected to join the team's training session this evening.

"Yes, I know you're all concerned about our national players. But let's not forget, until now, they haven't practiced with us".

"They just arrived in KL, I think maybe in an hour or two. And we're going to be practicing in the evenings. So, of course, they won't be joining us today", he told a press conference ahead of the first game of the Shopee Cup, at Taha Ariffin Stadium, today.

However, Aidil did not rule out the possibility of the national side being relegated in a match against Tampines Rovers, instead a decision will be made after assessing their condition in the final training session.

Aidil also took a cautious approach by not revealing too much about the team's planning to prevent the opponents from getting a clear picture of Kuching City's top ten.

"Honestly, I don't want to reveal too much about our team so that the opponents know what is going on and can plan", he added.

Meanwhile, Aidil also confirmed Cameron's sensational attacker Ronald Ngah Wanja or whatever Mr. Ngah was unable to be brought down in the action due to injuries.

"Yes, Wanja was injured. She's not so good now. So, what I can say is that he's 100 percent not going to play tomorrow", she said.

Kuching City FC is scheduled to open the curtains of the 2026/27 Shopee Cup campaign against Tampines Rovers FC at Taha Ariffin Stadium, Kuching, on October 7.
