KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Jalinan Insan Wahana Aspirasi (JIWA) Komuniti Madani programme aims to create a well-informed and conscious community, stressing the importance of community education in tackling misinformation often spread through digital and mainstream media.

Samarahan Division Deputy Resident Rais Ahmat stressed the need for communities to value accurate information as a key strength in resisting the misuse of new technology for criminal activities.

“Communities must value accurate and truthful information as the foundation of their strength. It’s important to resist the efforts of irresponsible groups who misuse new technology for criminal purposes,” he said.

He said this during the launch of the JIWA Komuniti Madani Programme at the INFRA Branch Auditorium in Kota Samarahan on Sunday.

Rais further emphasised the government’s role in sustaining efforts to provide job opportunities across various sectors, including the economy, social welfare, education, health, and technology, to meet both current and global demands while ensuring long-term community well-being.

The event also featured the Komuniti Madani Got Talent competition, with Rais presenting awards to the winners. It concluded with a photo session with the local community, fostering unity and togetherness.

Also present were Sarawak deputy director of the Information Department Aziz Abdul Rahman, Samarahan district assistant officer Hayati Sahari, Samarahan district information officer Abdul Latif Shamsuddin, and the Pemanca for the Samarahan Malay community Seli Hassan.
