Asfia, wife attend Malaysia Day Thanksgiving Ceremony in Sri Aman

SRI AMAN: Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, along with his wife, Puan Sri Datin Amar Fatimah Mohamad Iskandar attended the Malaysia Day Thanksgiving Ceremony for Sarawak, held at the Sri Aman Town Mosque on Sunday.

They represented the Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.

They were warmly welcomed by Sarawak Deputy State Secretary (Economic Planning and Development), Datuk Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, who represented the Sarawak State Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki.

The thanksgiving ceremony was also attended by Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, and Deputy Minister of Women, Early Childhood, and Community Welfare Development Datuk Mohammad Razi Sitam.

The event commenced with a Yasin recitation and a Thanksgiving Prayer led by Sarawak’s Chief Imam Sahibul Fadillah Dato Mustapha Kamal Ahmad Fauzi, followed by a special lecture delivered by the Sarawak Mufti, Sahibus Samahah Datu Kipli Yassin.

The ceremony concluded with a modest yet heartfelt dinner, filled with a sense of warmth and gratitude.

This thanksgiving ceremony served as an important platform not only to commemorate Malaysia Day but also to strengthen the relationship between leaders and the people of the state.

On Monday, Wan Junaidi and the Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, are expected to attend the Malaysia Day Gathering, which will be held at the Indoor Stadium of the Sports Complex, Sri Aman.

The 2024 Sarawak Malaysia Day celebration showcases the spirit of unity and togetherness in remembering independence, which continues to be the foundation of the state’s harmony.
