KUCHING (Aug 2): Sarawak is looking forward to working with South Korea on enhancing the competitiveness of middle-market enterprises to expand their international trade activities, said Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
The Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment said this when leading a Sarawak delegation to meet with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (Motie) in Sejong, South Korea yesterday.
“The meeting was to explore opportunities for joint projects or initiatives that aligned with the interests of both regions to enhance the competitiveness of middle-market enterprises to expand their international trade activities,” he said in a statement issued after the meeting.
It is understood that Motie is a key government agency in South Korea responsible to formulate and implement policies related to trade, industry, and energy.
“Motie provides support in various sectors to enhance technological advancement and industrial competitiveness as well as engages in international cooperation on trade and energy issues,” said the statement.
The Sarawak delegation comprised Deputy Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment Datuk Dr Malcolm Mussen Lamoh; Deputy Minister for Youth, Sport and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat; and Small and Medium Enterprises advisor for the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment Dato Sri Mohd Naroden Majais.
