MUKAH (March 16): Minor rural project (MRP) grants totalling RM18,000 from the Balingian constituency have been distributed to six suraus.

The handing over was held during the Santuni Kasih Ramadan programme and breaking of fast event at Surau Darul Abrar in Kampung Sesok Baru on Sunday.

Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi said the grants reflected continued support for efforts to enliven houses of worship in the Balingian constituency.

“I hope the surau committees will make the best use of the allocation, particularly in carrying out religious and community activities throughout the month of Ramadan,” he said according to a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) report.

During the event, Abdul Yakub also presented food baskets, containing essential kitchen items, to 25 recipients to help ease their burden as they prepare for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.

Among those present were Mukah District Officer Peleadzman Ahip, Mukah police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias, and Surau Darul Abrar Kampung Sesok Baru committee chairman Khairuddin Sura Faiz.
