KUCHING (Feb 24): Sarawak youths should be prepared to shoulder the responsibility of becoming the drivers of digital transformation in their respective districts.

This call came from Angkatan Zaman Mansang (Azam) Sarawak chief executive officer Ali Suhaili at the Sarawak Digital Champion (SDC) 2026 Bootcamp opening ceremony here on Monday.

Bringing together representatives of 45 districts throughout Sarawak, the programme was organised by Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC), with Azam Sarawak as the implementing agency on the ground.

Adding on, Ali said the real strength of the bootcamp programme was in the participants’ commitment of returning to their communities as leaders set to bring about continuous changes.

“We want the youths to not only be digitally literate, but to also emerge as leaders who can guide and give confidence to their communities to move in line with the digital trend.

“Digital transformation requires more than technical skills.

“It also requires an understanding of the local context, effective communication and the ability to build trust within the community.”

Ali said as an organisation based on participatory communication, Azam Sarawak served as a link between the state’s development aspirations and the reality of the communities on the ground.

“Effective communication can build understanding, trust and participation.

“When communities understand the benefits, they will actively participate.”

Ali also invited communities throughout Sarawak to join in welcoming the arrival of their respective SDC agents.

“They are out to implement digital coaching and empowerment programmes in their respective districts.

“This transformation requires mutual support.

“When the agents return to their districts, we hope that the communities could be involved and see this as an effort to strengthen local capacity.”

According to Azam Sarawak, the programme comprises a six-month structured development module that include coaching sessions, monitoring and implementation of digital initiatives at the district level.

Starting this April, the participants would return to their respective areas to implement the first programme with their own local communities.
