MIRI: A total of 127 organisations in the Bekenu constituency received Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants yesterday (Aug 12) totalling to RM541,000.

The funds were distributed by Deputy Minister of Women and Child Development, Datuk Rosey Yunus during a ceremony held at the Bekenu Community Hall.

During the MRP handover ceremony, Rosey acknowledged that some organisations in the constituency have yet to receive their MRP allocations.

She urged these groups to remain patient as their applications are still in the approval process.

“Those who received the allocation today are expected to use it for the activities of their respective organisations,” she said.

Rosey also pointed out on the importance of being transparent within group, advising them that the funds received should be discussed with all members to avoid any misunderstandings.

“Please discuss the use of MRP allocations with members or residents of longhouses and villages. This way, all parties can benefit together,” she said adding that the committee members of the MRP grants would need to explain the use of the funds to ensure proper management.

The recipients of the MRP grants included 80 Village Development and Safety Committees (JKKKs), 31 Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs), 14 mosque and surau committees, the Saeh Zone Development Committee, and the Longhouse Association Suai Zone.
