LAWAS: Healthcare development in the constituency is gaining momentum with plans underway to upgrade the Sundar Clinic and the imminent completion of a new hospital.

The construction of the new Lawas hospital, now over 80 per cent complete, will enhance healthcare services in the area.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan emphasised the need for continued improvements in rural clinics, not just in terms of facilities but also in staffing and expertise.

“It’s not just about upgrading facilities; we also need to focus on staffing and expertise,” he said during the handover of basic medical supplies event organised by Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) in collaboration with the Limbang Department of Health at Sundar Community Hall on Sunday 9Sept 15).

Awang Tengah also encouraged the public to maintain a healthy lifestyle, utilise the recreational facilities in Sundar, and seek medical attention promptly when necessary.

During the event, PETRONAS donated medical and non-medical supplies worth RM51,600, including an Electronic Blood Pressure Monitoring device, Serum Bilirubinometer, Digital BP Set, weighing scales, chairs, washing machines, and other essential items.

Also present were Deputy President of the Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers of Sarawak (SABATI) Datuk Dayang Morliah Datuk Awang Daud, Lawas MP Datuk Henry Sum Agong, Senior General Manager of Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd Noriani Yatim Mohamad, and General Manager of PETRONAS Sarawak Norazibah Mohd Rabu.
