KUCHING (Sept 1): A local man here is being put on a seven-day remand to facilitate the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in an investigation.

The commission applied for the remand order yesterday, in connection with a probe into an alleged attempt to bribe police personnel in Sadong Jaya last Saturday.

It is stated that the suspect and another local man, travelling on a four-wheel-drive vehicle (4WD), were apprehended by police patrollers in Sadong Jaya.

The two were then brought to Asajaya police station, where during the interrogation, one of them was alleged to have attempted to bribe the police with RM50, on intention that the case be settled.

A report was then lodged, with the suspect submitted to MACC for further action.
