Brunei Foreign Affairs Minister calls on Abang Johari

KUCHING: The government of Brunei will continue to maintain good ties with Sarawak.

Brunei Second Minister of Foreign Affairs Datuk Seri Setia Awang Erywan Pehin Sri Datu Pekerma Jaya Mohd Yusof said this year marks the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Brunei Darussalam and Sarawak.

“This year commemorates 40 years of diplomatic relations between Brunei and Sarawak since our country gained independence.

“We are committed to continuing our good relationship,” he said after paying a courtesy call on Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia yesterday (June 27).

Awang Erywan, who arrived at 4 pm, had a discussion with Abang Johari for about an hour during the courtesy visit.

Also present during the courtesy call were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Brunei Darussalam’s Consul General Sheikh Abdul Mahdani Datuk Paduka Sheikh Abdul Gani.
