KUCHING, Mar 10: Canadian High Commissioner to Malaysia, Jodi Rae Robinson, has praised Sarawak’s move to introduce hydrogen as an alternative energy source, which is seen as a key energy source of the future.

“Hydrogen is the energy of the future, and I am very impressed with the development of the hydrogen industry in this State.

“Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has a very clear vision in expanding this green energy sector,” she said during a press conference after paying a courtesy call to Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at the Satria Pertiwi Complex here today, according to a TVS news report.

She also shared her experience of driving a hydrogen-powered car during a previous visit, which left a positive impression of the efficiency and smooth performance of the technology.

However, she acknowledged that the main challenge in introducing hydrogen more widely is the still-high cost of production.

“Like other countries, we need to work together in research and development to reduce the cost of hydrogen production.

“Through cooperation between countries, we can make hydrogen energy more competitive,” she said. — DayakDaily
