KUCHING (March 10): Canada is looking to boost international collaboration with Sarawak to further strengthen its energy, agriculture, and aerospace sectors, said Canada’s High Commissioner to Malaysia, Jodi Rae Robinson.
In a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Robinson highlighted that Canada has numerous innovative companies and expertise that could support Sarawak’s development priorities while facilitating technology and knowledge sharing in industries with strong growth potential.
“We have many innovative companies from Canada as well as expertise in areas that are Sarawak’s priorities such as energy, agriculture, and aerospace, which is a new sector for Sarawak.
“There are many opportunities for us to collaborate in these sectors,” she told reporters after paying a courtesy call on Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Kompleks Satria Pertiwi on Tuesday.
She also noted that Canada’s interest in supporting Sarawak’s sustainable mining initiatives, aligning with the state’s commitment to environmentally responsible development.
“I know the Premier of Sarawak is strongly committed to sustainable mining practices.
“Canada hopes to support Sarawak in this area while ensuring environmental sustainability,” Robinson added.
Following the meeting with Robinson, Abang Johari received a courtesy call from Norway’s Ambassador to Malaysia, Marianne Fosland.
