Care for nation is care for all, says Igan MP

MUKAH (Sept 12): Care for your nation like how you would care for your family, Igan MP Ahmad Johnie Zawawi called upon his constituents.

The parliamentarian, in his speech at the flagging-off of ‘Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang’ (KMJG) convoy at Kampung Tian community hall near here on Tuesday, also reminded the community to embody the five principles in Rukun Negara.

This, he said, would guide the people of Malaysia, regardless of race, religion and culture, to grow and be united in the principles of Rukun Negara, Malaysia’s fundamental basis in building a nation.

“There’s no point if our country is progressing but the people are not united,” he said, citing the important role of the youth in nation building.

“We not only want to have smart generations, but we also need young people of good characters and who are sincere and willing to defend the country,” he said.

“Loyalty to the country must be proven by action, and this can be done by a simple act of flying the ‘Jalur Gemilang’ during the national month celebration,” he said, while lauding the Sarawak State Information Department (JaPen) for the hosting of the Fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign.

Also present was Sarawak JaPen assistant director Roszilawati Nor Aziz.
