Cement lorry driver rescued after crash at Demak Laut roundabout

KUCHING (Feb 2): A cement lorry driver was rescued after his vehicle crashed at the Demak Laut roundabout here on Monday afternoon.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) dispatched rescuers from the Tabuan Jaya fire station after receiving a distress call at 2.50pm.

The lorry was heavily damaged due to the crash, and was found by rescuers on its side, pinning the driver inside.

“Rescuers promptly acted by using rescue tools to extricate him from the crashed vehicle.

“The victim was then handed over to Red Crescent paramedics for further treatment,” Bomba said.

The operation ended at 4.33pm.
