MIRI (Oct 2): Police have arrested a 26-year-old foreigner and seized contraband cigarettes estimated to be worth RM4,395 during a raid on Monday.
District police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said that the suspect was apprehended at a mini market in Jalan North Yu Seng in the city centre at around 3.30pm.
“During the raid, the police confiscated 900 packets of various brands of contraband cigarettes, estimated to be worth RM4,395,” he said in a statement today.
Alexson added that the suspect has been remanded to assist in police investigation under Section 135(1)(d) of the Customs Act 1967.
He urged public to continue to channel information related to any illegal or criminal activities to the police via 085-433730.
