KUCHING (Aug 16): A man was arrested on suspicion of committing criminal intimidation at Kampung Mang, Jalan Meranek in Kota Samarahan on Thursday.
Kota Samarahan District police chief DSP Jaimi Husin said the suspect was a local citizen, aged 37 years old.
“The suspect was arrested and taken to the Kota Samarahan District police headquarters (IPD) for further investigation under Section 506 of the Penal Code, which is criminal intimidation,” said Jaimi in a statement today.
The Section provides for an imprisonment for up to two years or a fine, or both, upon conviction.
“Background checks revealed that the suspect had eight previous records related to criminal and drug offences,” said Jaimi, adding that the suspect is now being remanded for four days to further facilitate the investigation.
Meanwhile, Jaimi urged the public to share any information related to crimes and report it to the nearest police station.
“The police will take strict action without any compromise, and the identity of the informant will also be kept confidential,” he added.
