BINTULU (Oct 2): A 36-year-old man was arrested in the Parkcity commercial area here yesterday for suspected drug trafficking.
Bintulu police chief Supt Nixon Joshua Ali said during the arrest, police seized 288.5g of drugs, believed to be methamphetamine from the suspect.
“Preliminary investigations found that the drugs were intended for distribution around Bintulu town and could potentially supply between 550 and 580 drug users,” he said in a statement.
Nixon added that a urine test conducted on the suspect returned negative for drugs.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the death penalty or life imprisonment and a minimum of 15 strokes of the cane.
