SIBU (March 10): A culvert installation project aimed at diverting stagnant water away from nearby houses in the lower Selalo village area here has been completed.
Bawang Assan assemblyman Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh, who is also Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) senior vice president, visited the site recently to inspect the completed project.
He was accompanied by PDP Paradom community service committee chairman Ting Hung Hua, Kapitan Hii Chin Yu and several others during the inspection.
“The completed culvert installation project diverts stagnant water away from nearby village houses in the lower Selalo area,” Wong said in a statement on Monday.
He recalled villagers had previously complained about the inconvenience caused when the surrounding areas were frequently flooded during heavy rain.
“The completed culvert installation work is to mitigate the problem of stagnant water surrounding their houses,” he added.
During the visit, Wong also inspected completed road improvement at Upper Nam Chong, Lane 2.
He explained that the road had been widened and sealed to facilitate smoother traffic movement in the area.
