“Yesterday (July 30), the neglected state of the property resulted in pieces of the roof of Lot 935 being blown away, with debris landing on neighboring units.

“This case exemplifies the immediate risks posed by neglected properties, and decisive measures must be taken to address the safety and health concerns faced by the residents in this community,” he said.

Kong said the Building Ordinance grants MBKS the authority to take action against abandoned houses.

He also said that the prolonged inaction from MBKS, despite having knowledge about the matter, has exacerbated the distress of the residents of Lorong Bayor Bukit 2.

“We call upon MBKS chairman Dato Wee Hong Seng, and MBKS to exercise their statutory powers without delay.

“It is their responsibility to protect the safety and well-being of the residents in Lorong Bayor Bukit 2,” he added. — DayakDaily
