KUCHING: Relentless in his running and difficult to mark due to his solid build, Denilson Dylan Demendraa unleashed a venomous strike that nearly tore through the goalkeeper’s net.
The 24-year-old striker was ferocious, chasing down every ball that Pustaqa FC possessed.
He manoeuvred past two defenders to give his team a lead in the first half.
While he modestly attributed his success to luck, onlookers and opposing teams are sure to take notice of the Iban lad from Sri Aman.
“It was my first goal in this tournament, but tonight I felt confident.
“I really believed I could play well,” he told Sarawak Tribune at Padang C in Petra Jaya last night (Oct 12).
Denilson likened his goal to that of Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson, who is also in top form in the English Premier League.
As the eldest of three siblings, Denilson was pleased to assist teammate Ericson Teo, who scored to secure a clean-sheet victory and three points for Hope FC.
“When I saw Ericson making his run behind me, I knew he was quick and could get a goal. So, I decided to pass it to him,” he explained.
