KUCHING (Sept 17): Sarawakians must stand firm with the Sarawak government in demanding the rights enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), said Deputy Minister of Transport (Riverine and Marine) said Dato Henry Harry Jinep.
The Tasik Biru assemblyman stated that the government, led by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, has worked hard to reclaim the rights and interests that have been eroded in the agreement.
Henry emphasised the importance of today’s generation understanding the provisions of MA63.
“Our hope is that Sarawak will continue to progress and prosper when we implement what is written in MA63,” he said when officiating the Kampung Serikin Women’s Bureau programme at SK Serabak, Kampung Serikin in Bau yesterday.
He also emphasised that the provisions agreed upon in the MA63 must be implemented without further delays.
Regarding the event, he said it was a meaningful programme held during Malaysia Day.
“We are commemorating the purpose of establishing the federation of Malaysia when the agreement between Sabah, Sarawak and Malaya was signed 61 years ago,” he added.
