LAWAS, Aug 26: The Centre for Technology Excellence Sarawak (CENTEXS) will soon have a permanent campus in Lawas, says Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
According to the news report by the Sarawak Public Communication Units (UKAS), Awang Tengah asserted that educational opportunities should be seized as a chance for individuals to enhance their skills and secure a better future.
“We also aim to support students who succeed in gaining admission into university. Our initial focus will be on universities owned by the Sarawak government,” he said at the 7th Pre-University Convocation Ceremony of SMK Merapok held at the school in Lawas on Saturday (Aug 24).
He also highlighted that the country needs an educated and skilful society as the economic sectors would substantively use digital technology.
“By 2026, all Sarawakian students in higher-learning institutions will have their tuition fees covered by the Sarawak government at State-owned universities,” he said.
At the same time, he explained that skilled labour, including for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), is crucial for penetrating broader markets and maximising potential, all of which stems from a good education. — DayakDaily
