DPM Zahid announces RM102 million allocation for two projects in Belaga

KUCHING, July 1: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has announced that RM102 million in allocation has been approved for two projects in Belaga.

The two projects are the solar hybrid battery replacement at Punan Ba, which costs RM40 million, and the national grid connection for the Belaga area, which costs RM62 million.

“Through the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW), the solar hybrid battery will be replaced every six to seven years,” said Zahid Hamidi during the launching of the solar hybrid project at Punan Ba, Belaga today.

He also said that the federal government will examine the implementation of the construction of the main road from Punan Ba to Bintulu, which spans 20km.

Apart from the construction of the main road, Zahid Hamidi also agreed to install streetlights and water treatment plants in the Belaga area.

“We (KKDW) will also be looking into the water treatment plant in this (Belaga) area, which has an estimated cost of RM21.6 million and will be included in the budget for 2025.

“I will have further discussions with the Minister of Works Malaysia, Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, regarding this (road construction and water treatment plants implementation),” added Zahid Hamidi.

Furthermore, he also said that the office for Jabatan Kemajuan Masyarakat (Kemas) and the preschools under the Kemas programme in Belaga will receive upgrades from his ministry. — DayakDaily
