KUCHING (Nov 2): The Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) will not tolerate contractors’ non-compliance to the council’s contract requirements, its chairman Tan Kai has stressed.

He highlighted this following an inspection on a drainage upgrading project site at a resettlement scheme along Jalan Stapok in Batu Kawah here recently.

“The drainage upgrades were found to be substandard and did not address the on-site issues, leading to water stagnation,” said Tan Kai in a statement.

In this regard, he said MPP had issued a final warning to the contractor involved, calling upon them to make immediate rectifications.

“Payment will be withheld until the works are satisfactorily completed,” he added.

The council, thus, reminded all MPP contractors of their obligation to complete their work in accordance with the contract terms.

“Should any contractor fail to comply with the contract terms, the MPP reserves the right to terminate, blacklist, and pursue further legal action,” stressed Tan.
