E-hailing driver dies after car strikes lamp post in Miri

MIRI (March 5): A single-vehicle crash along Jalan Kuala Baram Bypass here claimed the life of an e-hailing driver on Wednesday.

Miri police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the accident happened near the Industrial Training Institute when the car went out of control and struck a lamp post.

“The driver, a local man in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident happened around 5.50pm when the victim was travelling from Senadin towards Permyjaya,” he said in a statement yesterday.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Mohd Farhan reminded road users to always practise safe driving habits and adhere to traffic regulations at all times.
