People's support is essential to ensure sustainable development

LIMBANG, 3 Oct: People's support for the Sarawak Union Party (GPS) is essential to ensure sustainable development in Limbang can continue for the welfare of society.

Deputy Minister of Food Industry, Commodities and Regional Development, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail, said the support is necessary to ensure that various development efforts being carried out in the area can be continued.

"If the Libran people want this development to continue, in elections they will vote for a candidate representing GPS", he said during his speech at the Moon Cake Festival Program at the Yuk Hin Libran National Kind of School (SJKC) here last night.

Member of the National Assembly (ADUN) Bukit Kota said that Balanced development should be continued together taking into account the diversity of communities in the area.

He said the Balance society is made up of various races and ethnicities including Chinese, Malay, Kedayan, Bisaya, Lun Bawang, Iban, Penan and Lun Dayeh.

"Together we are united to advance Balance by 2030 and beyond", he said.

He said the increase in Sarawak's income over the past few years has given more room to the state government to strengthen development and channel various assistance to the people.

"In the last seven to eight years, revenue was only around RM5 billion to RM6 billion, but under the Sarawak Premier's administration, it increased to RM12 billion, RM13 billion and RM14 billion.

"In the coming year, revenue is expected to be likely between RM14 billion and RM15 billion", he said.

He said that the increased state income allowed the Sarawak government to expand implementation of development projects including road and bridge construction, besides providing various forms of assistance to the people.

He said, the increase in state income also strengthens the government's ability to continue development agenda to enhance community welfare across Sarawak.
