Elderly woman fatally struck by SUV while crossing road in Kuching

KUCHING (Aug 31): A 70-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries after she was hit by a sport utility vehicle (SUV) at Jalan Teo Kui Sing here yesterday (Aug 30).

Kuching district police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the incident occurred at 6.23pm.

“The incident involved a pedestrian (elderly woman) and an SUV. The SUV was exiting a junction before hitting the victim, who was crossing the road towards the supermarket.

“She suffered injuries to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene at 6.15pm by paramedics,” he said in a statement.

Mohd Farhan said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act.
