KUCHING: Sarawakians must commit to equipping themselves and future generations with the knowledge, skills, and resilience needed to thrive in today’s rapidly changing world, urged Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.
He highlighted the impact of technology, innovation, and globalization, which are reshaping our lives and presenting new challenges and opportunities.
“Hari Merdeka is not just a day of remembrance, but a day to honour the courage and sacrifices of our forefathers, who fought tirelessly to secure our independence.
“It is our responsibility to continue their legacy by preparing our nation for the challenges and opportunities of tomorrow,” he said in his National Day message today.
Uggah added that Sarawak’s strength lies in its diversity, and by working together, we can build a Malaysia that is not only strong and united but also progressive and innovative.
“Let us embrace the spirit of Merdeka by fostering a culture of continuous learning, creativity, and collaboration.
“This is the path to ensuring that our nation remains a beacon of hope, prosperity, and peace for all,” he said.
As we celebrate Merdeka, he called on Sarawakians to reaffirm their commitment to these goals.
“Let us invest in education, empower our youth, and protect our environment. The resulting success will be ours to share.
“Selamat Hari Merdeka, Malaysia! May our country continue to thrive and shine on the world stage. Segulai, Sejalai, we are stronger. Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka!” he added.
