Fareed Fardauz Khan wins Datuk Bandar Challenge Trophy Golf Championship 2024

KUCHING (Aug 26): Fareed Fardauz Khan was overall champion for the 2024 Datuk Bandar Challenge Trophy Golf Championship on Aug 24 at the Sarawak Golf Club (KGS).

He won the Open and Invitation Category of the tournament held in conjunction with the Kuching Festival 2024 by Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) in collaboration with Affin.

The last edition of the tournament took place in 2005.

Pauline Gan Guet Beng won the Special Women’s Invitation Category.

Kuching North Datuk Bandar Hilmy Othman said the tournament attracted 240 participants.

“This activity is also seen as a form of networking in our work, as good networking helps produce quality work and fosters good relationships among one another,” he said in a statement.

Hilmy said he hoped the event would be held annually.

“I am delighted to welcome partnerships with any parties interested in co-organising this event in the future,” he said.

The Hole-in-One competition offered state-of-the-art electric vehicles (EV) BYD Atto 3 and BYD Dolphin.

“For your information, we are among the first to offer an EV as a prize, which is a step towards promoting a low-carbon lifestyle, as EVs do not emit carbon pollution, thus aiming for a low-carbon city in line with Sarawak’s government direction to drive sustainable socioeconomic development by 2030,” added Hilmy.
