SIBU (Sept 3): A Mid-Autumn Festival will take place at the Farley stage here this Saturday (Sept 7), where 500 mooncakes will be given away to the public.
The event, jointly organised by Farley Sibu and Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Dudong Youth wing, will also hold various activities, starting at 6.30pm.
“We will distribute the 500 mooncakes on a first-come-first-served basis to visitors attending the event that night,” Farley human resources executive Sie Sing Ying told a joint press conference together with SUPP Dudong Youth chief Councillor Yiing Sy Huat here on Monday.
Among those present were event’s organising chairperson Ngu Xing Ling and Farley Café manager, Wong Siong Ming.
Adding on, Sie said a Chinese traditional costume competition would be among the highlights.
“The registration has already closed. There are 20 contestants – men and women.”
There would also be a ‘lantern-riddle’ session, and a lucky draw with 15 prizes up for grabs, she added.
“There will be a lion and dragon dance performance as well.
“The Persatuan Tarian Singa Dan Naga Seng Zhi Shen will parade a dragon dance with a team of 19 members, where the ‘dragon’ measures about 200 feet long.”
Meanwhile, Yiing said this was the first time both sides had joined hands to run this event.
