Fire destroys workers’ quarters, parked vehicles at Jalan Bako Industrial Estate

KUCHING (Sept 3): A workers’ quarters and several parked vehicles at Jalan Bako Industrial Estate here were completely destroyed during a fire that broke out Tuesday afternoon.

A spokesperson from the Fire and Rescue Department operations centre said a call regarding the incident was received at 1.48pm and a team from the Tabuan Jaya fire station was despatched to the scene.

“The fire involved a non-permanent structure 10-door workers’ quarters that was 100 per cent destroyed. Also destroyed were two cars and seven motorcycles,” he said in a statement.

No casualties were recorded in the incident.

After extinguishing the fire and ensuring it would not reignite, the operation ended at 2.57pm.
