Food giveaway outreach promotes community spirit in Demak Laut

KUCHING (March 16): A total of 500 packs traditional mushroom soup were distributed to residents of Kampung Tabuan Haji Drahman in Demak Laut here on last Sunday.

The food assistance was distributed by Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii’s special assistant Wong King Yii in conjunction with the Ramadan month.

The Democratic Action Party (DAP) Bandar Kuching Parliamentary Service Centre said the soup packs were prepared and partially distributed by members of the Foochianz Sports and Recreation Club, also known as the Foochianz Brotherhood.

“This programme not only provides additional food for residents to break the fast but also serves as an opportunity for residents, especially young people, to strengthen ties and mingle with the local community,” it said.

Foochianz Brotherhood president Mahudin Hood described the programme as a success and expressed appreciation to Dr Yii for supporting small communities such as Kampung Tabuan Haji Drahman.

“We thank Dr Kelvin Yii for making this programme possible.

“Although it may seem small, this programme means a lot to the residents.

“His efforts to help a small community allow us to share this traditional soup with the residents, and seeing their smiles is our greatest satisfaction.

“Residents hope that more initiatives like this will continue in the future,” Mahudin added.
