Former FAS sec-gen Razali Dolhan acquitted of CBT charges

KUCHING (Feb 3): Former Sarawak Football Association (FAS) secretary-general Razali Dolhan was discharged and acquitted by the Sessions Court here today of charges of committing criminal breach of trust.

Judge Musli Ab Hamid made the order after ruling that the prosecution had failed to establish a prima facie case against the accused.

Razali had claimed trial to all three charges under Section 408 of the Penal Code, which provides for between one and 14 years’ imprisonment and whipping, and possible fine, upon conviction.

He had been on trial for a total of 24 days since 2019.

A total of seven prosecution witnesses were called throughout the trial, including former FAS president Datuk Posa Majais.

On the first count, he was charged with committing criminal breach of trust involving RM139,920 in cash at the Sarawak State Stadium here on Feb 4, 2017.

The second charge involved cash amounting to RM21,378.70, allegedly committed at Lea Sports Centre, Wisma Hopoh here on Feb 13, 2017.

The third charge pertained to a cheque for RM30,000, allegedly committed at the same stadium on Jan 18, 2017.

All the cash and cheque monies involved were said to belong to the association.
Deputy public prosecutor Asmawi Nur Haqim Mokhtar appeared for the prosecution, while Razali was represented by counsel Dominique Ng.
