Fruitful outing for Brunei powerboat teams at Kanowit Festival 2024

SIBU (Sept 24): The long journey from Brunei paid off for the Raja Kerbau and Gemilang teams when they won five trophies in the powerboat race of the Kanowit Festival 2024, which concluded Sunday.

The teams’ spokesperson Felix James said they won the challenge trophy after emerging champion in the 30hp 3 Cylinder category; first and second runners-up in the 30hp 2 Cylinder category; and third place in the 50hp 3 Cylinder category.

“We feel this is a very encouraging and good achievement for our teams. During the three-day competition from Sept 20 to 22, we sent six boats with 15 team members to Kanowit,” he told Utusan Borneo.

Felix also said he was happy to have been able to strengthen friendships with other participating teams.

According to him, with the same interest, they can establish cooperation and exchange ideas with the local teams.

“The experience with other teams participating in this competition is very valuable for us. The slogan ‘Borneo Powerboat Brotherhood’ will continue to be our cornerstone to establish good relations with the teams in Sarawak,” he said.

He added that the slogan unites and strengthens their friendship with other powerboat racing teams from districts such as Kapit, Sibu, Bintulu, Sebauh, Miri, Limbang and others.
