Students and offer-holders are encouraged to explore FTES and other financial aid opportunities during Swinburne Sarawak’s Application Week 2026.By DayakDaily Team
KUCHING, May 25: Students who have received university offers but are still undecided due to financial concerns or uncertainty over courses, are being urged to use Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus’s upcoming Application Week 2026 to secure enrolment and explore funding opportunities under the Sarawak government’s Free Tertiary Education Scheme (FTES).
The three-day event, scheduled from June 8 to 10 at the university’s Jalan Simpang Tiga campus here, will allow students to complete enrolment in person while receiving direct guidance on financial aid, scholarships, and programme selection.
Running daily from 9am to 5pm, the event will also be open to students holding SPM, STPM or O-Level qualifications who have yet to apply for higher education programmes.
Eligible Sarawakian students may qualify for FTES, which fully covers tuition fees for approved undergraduate programmes. Those from households with a monthly per capita income of RM1,500 or below may also receive up to RM15,000 annually in stipend and accommodation support.
Apart from FTES, students can also obtain information on the BP40 Bursary Scheme, Swinburne Sarawak internal scholarships, and assistance through Yayasan Sarawak for Foundation Studies and Diploma programmes.
The university said course counsellors, academic staff and financial aid advisors will be available throughout the event to answer questions and provide one-on-one consultations.
Swinburne Sarawak director of future students Jason Chan said many students receive offer letters but remain hesitant about committing to further studies.
“We understand that receiving an offer to study doesn’t always mean the decision is final. There are still questions to answer. Application Week is designed for exactly that,” he said in a press release today.
“Come in, speak to us, and let us help you see what’s possible. For eligible Sarawakian students, a fully funded degree under FTES is waiting for you to claim it,” he added.
The university’s intake for Foundation Studies and diploma programmes begins on June 22, while its second semester intake for 2026 starts on Sept 1. — DayakDaily
