The Education Ministry has announced that schools across Malaysia will re-open on 17 February 2025, with students in Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu starting a day earlier, on 16 February

The academic year will consist of 194 school days and 44 holidays, according to the ministry's official schedule.

The ministry has also confirmed additional holiday allocations to accommodate key festive celebrations. For Hari Raya Aidilfitri, schools in Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu will close from 30 March to 3 April. Meanwhile, schools in the rest of the country will observe the holiday from 31 March to 4 April.

Deepavali holidays will also vary slightly by state. In Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu, schools will be closed from 19 to 21 October. Schools in other states will observe the holiday from 20 to 22 October, while Sarawak will mark Deepavali with a public holiday on 20 October.

The year-end break is set to begin on 20 December 2025 for most states, with the exception of Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu, where the holidays will start on 19 December
