KUCHING, May 20: The Sarawak Residential Rental Assistance Scheme (SRAS) has been enhanced to include household incomes of up to RM5,504, allowing more Sarawakians to qualify for rental aid in response to the rising cost of living.

In a statement, Housing Development Corporation (HDC) chief executive officer Fathi Hambali said key improvements under the scheme include the increase in the household income eligibility threshold from RM4,556 to RM5,504, and the extension of the rental assistance to 48 months to provide recipients with longer-term support.

In addition, the scheme has been expanded to cover 10 districts, namely Kuching, Samarahan, Sibu, Miri, Bintulu, Serian, Siburan, Sri Aman, Betong and Mukah.

Fathi said the move reflects the Sarawak government’s continued commitment to ensuring more people have access to safe and affordable rental housing.
