KUCHING (Aug 30): The Indonesian Consulate General in Kuching is closely monitoring the case of Yoga Anggiska, whose body was recovered from the tunnel of Mount Tabai, Bau on Thursday.

Indonesia’s Consul-General in Kuching Raden Sigit Witjaksono said the consulate is still waiting for updates from the Jambi government and Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency.

On Aug 13, 26-year-old Yoga from Kerinchi, Jambi in Indonesia was reported missing by relatives and was believed to have been trapped and buried in a collapsed gold mine tunnel in Mount Tabai. A search and rescue operation was then initiated on Aug 28 where his last known location was identified, before his body was discovered on Aug 29.

On Thursday, Bau district police chief DSP Jawai Francis Kempas stated the police required a close family member of Yoga to come forward for DNA comparison.

Following that, when asked if any of Yoga’s family members had arrived in Kuching, Raden said they had not.

“The consulate will monitor further on this case accordingly through the process of the authorities and local police,” he said when contacted by The Borneo Post.
