Indonesian man ‘marries’ rice cooker, ‘divorces’ four days later

KUCHING, Oct 14: The unusual love story of an Indonesian man marrying a rice cooker, and divorcing after four days has resurfaced on the Internet.

On Sept 20, 2021, Khoirul Anam, who is from Magelang in Java, Indonesia, shared a series of photos on his Facebook account of the marriage ceremony which saw him and his ‘bride’ sitting next to each other dressed in traditional white attire.

The photo was captioned with “White, silent, obedient. don’t talk much, good at cooking.. very ideal.. It’s warm again.. without you my rice is not cooked.”

The post, which amused netizens gained almost 10,000 likes, about 8,800 shares and more than 1,500 comments.

However, four days later, on Sept 24, Khoirul shared another post announcing that he had divorced, saying that “he is resolved, although it is a heavy decision, but it is the only way, there is no perfect partner”.

The reason given by him for the divorce is that ‘she’ is only able to cook rice and not vegetables.

Both posts were part of a social media stunt for entertainment which has become a viral sensation. Khoirul is a well-known Internet celebrity who does bizarre antics to entertain his followers. — DayakDaily
