KUCHING, March 11: The Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak has been officially accepted as a member of the International Road Federation (IRF) Global for the year 2026, a milestone that underscores the department’s commitment to advancing safe, sustainable, and resilient road infrastructure.

According to a statement today, the membership opens doors for JKR Sarawak to expand international collaboration, adopt global best practices, and enhance technical expertise to deliver a more efficient, affordable, and sustainable road network for the people of Sarawak.

JKR Sarawak director Datu Ir Cassidy Morris described the recognition as “an important milestone that reflects our ongoing commitment to raising the standards of state infrastructure development to a global level.”

He added that IRF Global membership will allow JKR Sarawak to broaden knowledge sharing, access international best practices, and strengthen the technical skills of departmental staff in planning and executing modern, safe, and sustainable road projects.
